We are seeking a skilled and proactive Network Administrator & Computer Security Specialist to join our IT team. In this dual role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our organization’s network infrastructure while also ensuring robust cybersecurity measures are in place. The ideal candidate will combine in-depth networking expertise with strong security knowledge to protect our systems, data, and users from threats.

Key Responsibilities

Network Administration

  • Design, configure, and maintain LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless networks to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and resolve outages or performance bottlenecks.
  • Manage network devices (switches, routers, firewalls) and related services (DNS, DHCP).
  • Administer Active Directory and Azure cloud services, ensuring proper authentication, access controls, and compliance.
  • Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies for critical data and network configurations.
  • Plan and implement network upgrades, expansions, and optimizations in alignment with business needs.
  • Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, procedures, and asset inventories.

Computer Security

  • Implement and oversee cybersecurity controls, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and endpoint protection solutions.
  • Perform regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify potential risks and recommend corrective measures.
  • Create, update, and enforce security policies, procedures, and standards across the organization.
  • Monitor logs and alerts from security tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS) to detect, analyze, and respond to security incidents.
  • Stay informed about emerging threats, security trends, and regulatory requirements to advise on continuous improvement of security measures.

Database Management (SQL Server)

  • Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server instances, ensuring high availability and data integrity.
  • Monitor database performance, optimize queries, and perform regular maintenance tasks (indexing, backups, etc.).
  • Implement database backup and recovery strategies and regularly test data restoration processes.
  • Manage database security, user accounts, roles, and permissions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related performance issues and errors.

Collaboration & Support

  • Work closely with the IT team to plan and execute network and security projects.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users, assisting with network connectivity and security-related inquiries.
  • Train IT staff and employees on security best practices and threat awareness.
  • Coordinate incident response efforts and escalate issues when necessary.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in network administration and cybersecurity.

Certifications (preferred): CCNA, CCNP, CISSP, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent.

Technical Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and SIEM solutions.
  • Familiarity with Windows, Linux, and virtualization technologies (Hyper-V).
  • Proficiency in scripting or automation (PowerShell, Python) is a plus.
